Ethical Trade Norway
Viking is a member of Ethical Trade Norway (EHN).
Through the guidelines provided by EHN, Viking has access to a center of competence which handles questions linked to Ethical Trade and also gets frequent updates on developments on business matters concerning the supply chain.
Each year Viking reports on its business activities in the Far East and its actions, according to EHN's guidelines. The report is a public document and accessible on EHN's website. EHN comments on the report with relevant remarks or suggestions for improvement. They also offer training for Asian Partners in Ethical Trade. Viking has taken part in this training with its partners in China.
Business Social Compliance Initiative
Viking is a member of BSCI that is a leading supply chain management system that supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories and farms in their global supply chains.
BSCI help Viking to implements the principle international labour standards protecting workers’ rights such as International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions and declarations, the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and guidelines for multinational enterprises of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Viking cooperates with SATRA to secure optimum test and analysis competence of its products and components.
SATRA is an independent research and testing organisation established in the UK in 1919. As well as testing products and components to European and international standards w/in footwear, SATRA has its own chemicals analysis laboratory for testing restricted substances in accordance with European REACH, and US chemicals regulations for which it is CPSC-accredited.

Viking is a member of The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®).

FSC is an international non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization that promotes responsible management of the world's forests. The FSC does this by setting standards based on agreed principles for responsible forest stewardship. FSC's Chain-of-Custody (CoC) system enables forest-based products from FSC certified forests and other responsible sources to be certified and labelled. By producing products depending on the forest, such as shoeboxes, Viking feel responsible to ensure that the raw materials used in these products originates from a sustainable forestry value chain. Through the cooperation with FSC, Viking gets the necessary help to document responsible sourcing and uncover, test and improve the relevant sub-contractors.
